Last week’s rando lyrics: The lyric, “I've crossed lines with words and wire” is from the song "I Take My Chances”, performed by Mary Chapin Carpenter, co-written by Mary Chapin Carpenter and Don Schlitz . It was released in April 1994 as the seventh and final single from her album “Come On Come On”, which was recorded and released in 1992. Produced by Mary Chapin Carpenter and John Jennings.

Welcome to The Regular Friday post!
More snowy, annoying weather here in the upper left corner, kinda getting tired of winter. Outlook: Better, maybe some melting over the next few days, thinking of Beach Boys songs…”Warmth Of The Sun” - can you believe that was 1964?

A Song To Play: “I Take My Chances”
A deceptively simple Song To Play, but is it really? Key of CMajor, 4/4 common time, and that 136 BPM tempo can sneak up on you, at least the first couple of times through it. The repeated I-V-IV (CMaj-GMaj-FMaj) pattern gets comfortable at tempo and I was kind of tapping my heel along, having a good time when that vi- (Am) pops up and goes to an unexpected FMaj before going back (sorta) to the I-V-IV and then falls apart with the vi- again. Don’t get complacent - it’ll surprise ya! It’s such a great song to tap your heel or toe to, bounce your head on the beat to - and then all of a sudden something new comes along. After playing through a couple of times you start to feel the 5 measure pattern groove and then, of course, it becomes 9 measures. It’ll keep you on toes for a bit, but a pleasure to play once you just go with it…
Have fun!!

[Verse 1]
I took a walk in the rain one day
On the wrong side of the tracks
I stood on the rails till I saw that train
Just to see how my heart would react
Now some people say that you shouldn't tempt fate
And for them I cannot disagree
But I never learned nothing from playing it safe
I say fate should not tempt me
[Chorus]
I take my chances
I don't mind working without a net
I take my chances
I take my chances every chance I get
[Verse 2]
I sat alone in the dark one night
Tuning in by remote
I found a preacher who spoke of the light
But there was brimstone in his throat
He'd show me the way according to him
In return for my personal check
I flipped my channel back to CNN
And I lit another cigarette
[Chorus]
I take my chances
Yes, forgiveness doesn't come with a debt
I take my chances
I take my chances every chance I get
[Verse 3]
I've crossed lines with words and wire
And both have cut me deep
I've been frozen out and I've been on fire
And the tears are mine to weep
But I can cry until I laugh
Or laugh until I cry
So cut the deck right in half
I'll play from either side
[Chorus]
I take my chances
I pay my dollar and I place my bet
I take my chances
I take my chances every chance I get
[Chorus]
I take my chances
Yeah, I don't cling to remorse or regret
I take my chances
I take my chances every chance I get
I'll take my chances
I'll take my chances

I told her. She said you seem nice…
That’s high praise for her, she usually reserves that for peeps who have treats ;-)
Gorgeous photo of Mika! She's a very pretty girl.
