Last week’s rando lyric: The lyric, “Blue for the tears, black for the night’s fear” is from the song "I Don’t Want To Talk About It”, written by Danny Whitten and performed by Crazy Horse . It’s Track 5 on the eponymous 1971 album “Crazy Horse”. (Ed. Neil Young did not appear on this album)
Produced by Bruce Botnick, Russ Titelman & Jack Nitzsche.

Welcome to The Regular Friday post!
Crazy Horse is one of those bands that’s a little hard to keep track of. Apparently still active, the last appearance listed in Wikipedia is from 2024. Also, their “genre” is listed as “Country Rock Folk” in the “Tags” section of Genius, so take your pick, I suppose. Although it’s likely Genius didn’t know either and just put in as many tags as possible to cover their bases (and their links traffic, but I digress…). A very cool song, a big hit for the band as configured at the time, and a fun one to play with just a bit of a challenge.

A Song To Play:
4/4 common time, a brisk 120 Beats Per Minute, Key of GMajor - there are some discrepancies between the different versions on Chordify (shown below) and on my other (subscription) source, Ultimate Guitar. In measures 19 and 20 (on the line marked 11 - that’s just measure 11, which is the first measure in the line to kind of help you find different places without having to count more than necessary…) you’ll see this kind of odd G-Bm-Em-E sequence. That’s what Chordify “hears”. Ultimate Guitar, which is user created, rather than machine created, lists it as G/F#, and shows the location as at the word “broke” in the choruses, followed by the Eminor at the word “heart”.
G/F# is a bit of an adjustment from a standard cowboy GMaj chord:
(From Jguitar.com, my go-to source for chord diagrams)
Make that minor adjustment and…
…have fun!!

[Verse 1] I can tell by your eyes That you’ve probably been cryin’ forever And the stars in the sky don’t mean nothin’ to you They’re a mirror [Chorus] I don’t wanna talk about it How you broke my heart If I stay here just a little bit longer If I stay here, won’t you listen to my heart? Whoa heart [Verse 2] If I stand all alone Will the shadow hide the color of my heart? Blue for the tears, black for the night’s fear The heart and the stars don’t mean nothin’ to you They’re a mirror [Chorus] I don’t wanna talk about it How you broke my heart If I stay here just a little bit longer If I stay here, won’t you listen to my heart? Whoa heart My heart Whoa heart [Guitar Solo] [Chorus] I don’t wanna talk about it How you broke my heart If I stay here just a little bit longer If I stay here, won’t you listen to my heart? Whoa heart My heart Whoa heart My heart Whoa heart My heart Whoa heart

From The Past:
Ed: Some lulz, Mika was “Camellia” before she came home. Shhh - She doesn’t know…
I especially like the size “small” in the description - not any more, she’s a 15 pound cat now and takes no shit from anyone…

This Week’s Conversation With Mika, The Cat:
Mika: “Yes, I’m sleeping while sitting near a patch of sun. Leave me alone, human…”
Me: Tiptoes quietly away from her highness….

“It’s never really final - you just run out of things you can bear to change…”
I don't know what it is but not a big fan of this one. Gmaj seems like a better choice
I love this song. The English band Everything But The Girl did a nice cover in the late 80s.
