Last week’s rando lyrics: The lyric, “Summer came and summer's passing” is from the song "Summer Clothes”, by Marc Scibilia, released in 2017. Written, produced and performed by Marc Scibilia as a single in 2017, but also on the album Seed Of Joy released in 2020. Information source: Good Lander Records.
Welcome to The Regular Friday post!
This week in “Relief From Persistent Earworm”!!!
From a couple of months ago (sheesh! Already?):
Thank you to all (especially no one), who were searching around on my behalf!!!
I finally found it, and now it can be in YOUR head too!!! Helen Chambers, a UK artist who toured with Chuck Ragan’s 2012 Revival Tour, sings this song (hear the Melanie-like quaver in her voice? Told ya!), “Little Demons”. A while back I posted what I thought were some lyrics (now I realize almost all were “mondegreens” Link:>[Mondegreens],), and asked for help finding the song. Little wonder it was not to be found since I had almost all of the lyrics wrong - I will plead a bit of mercy since Ms. Chambers’ accent made some of the words, mmmm, …indistinct… shall we say, to lads from the Pacific Northwest. Anyway, it’s a great song, and here’s her Bandcamp page: Penny Arcade
Ed. That’s a relief. Though, I can’t actually find the lyrics. Update: bought the CD, lyrics in the jacket:
4/4 common time, a sprightly 136 BPM, Key of Gm? Or BbMajor? I dunno, Gm is the relative minor of BbMajor, so it doesn’t really matter, first chord is Gm and that’s usually kind of a tip-off, and it would be somewhat unusual in a Major Key to not see the IV chord, which would be Eb in the Key of BbMajor, but it’s not found here. So, I’m going with Gminor and I think that fits with the “mood” of the song which has a kind of nighttime (“leave the light on”), foreboding (“cos it’s dark outside”, “calls out in the darkness”) kind of feel. There’s room for dissenting opinions because of all the non-diatonic chords, and y’all may certainly talk amongst yourselves, but I’m sticking with Gm.
Probably gonna try this - lots of odd looking chords, but that just makes it a challenge. I definitely like the sound of suspended (sus) chords that you can play with a bit of back and forth. Likely capo on 3 first, get a feel for it and then take a swing at it. I note Ms. Chambers plays the song capoed on 3 in the above video, and I normally place my capo a little closer to the fret than she does, but I’m not saying don’t try it - I’m going to, just haven’t had a lot of luck placing it that way. She’s undoubtedly a much better guitar player than I am and would probably laugh and call me names…
Ed. “Indeed, in many respects, she was quite English, and was an excellent example of the fact that we have really everything in common with America nowadays, except, of course, language.”

Another Song To Play…
I got kinda excited about finding the Helen Chambers’ song (finally!) but this from last week’s Rando Lyrics is a pretty cool song, too…
In a Rolling Stone interview, singer/songwriter Marc Scibilia said:
I was 18 when I moved from Buffalo to Nashville. My dad would call me once a week and end every conversation with, ‘One more time, what’s your address?’ and he would never send me any mail. The song is a little bit about my hometown, my family, but mostly just someone looking for an excuse to call someone they miss – thanks for always calling, Dad. I missed you too.
A somewhat unusual Key of F# Major (probably…), 4/4 common time, a very quick 176 BPM (you really don’t need to play it that fast if you’re strumming…but if you’re finger/flat picking, yeah, maybe…)
Lyrics
(From Genius) Link>Summer Clothes<
I found your summer clothes
In a closet yesterday
I can give 'em all away
Unless you'll wear them
My memory ain't the best
One more time, what's your address?
They should get there by the end of this week
Or the next
I've been thinking 'bout you
Funny how that goes
Lookin' for my winter jacket, I found your summer clothes
(Summer clothes)
I'm alright, thanks for asking
Summer came and summer's passing
The town, you know it's the same old
There's a lot of talk, but nothing happens
They built a new casino
And they call it 'Little Reno'
But the blinking sign's
Got a busted light
Says 'Welcome to eno'
I always think about you
'Specially when it snows
I see you there
Your sunlit hair
Wearing summer clothes
(Summer clothes)
And do you think
You'll ever make it back to town
I don't like the weather either
But theres a lotta good folks that love seeing you 'round
And I'll hang on to a pair of your sneakers
Maybe a couple t-shirts
You know we see the sun
For one or two months
I found your summer clothes
In a closet yesterday
But I called to say hello
It sure was good talking to ya
I'll let you off the phone
Put on my winter jacket
And send your summer clothes

Great Jimi Hendrix interview, and enjoyed Ritchie Blackmore's memories of George Harrison.
