Last week’s rando lyrics: The lyric, “When your heart won't tell your mind” is from the song "As She’s Walking Away”, performed by The Zac Brown Band with featured artist Alan Jackson. Written by Wyatt Durrette & Zac Brown, it is Track 10 on the album “You Get What You Give”, released in August of 2010 on the Atlantic Records & Southern Ground labels. Produced by Keith Stegall & Zac Brown.
Welcome to The Regular Friday post!
There are times when I just want to play and sing a guts country song. Broken hearts, trailer parks, a faithful dog, the heartland and American flag, rodeos and…and a truck.

Some Stuff:

Ed.: The “Some Links” section will be moving to the every other Saturday “Links” posts and “Music Business Worldwide” will no longer be featured as a link.
I’m not willing to shell out close to $200/year for their content, and deal with the apparently haphazard approach to limiting access absent a subscription (sometimes yeah, sometimes nah…). Pretty good source, but really, not THAT good. Meh, your mileage may vary.
A Song To Play:
4/4 common time, Key of Eb, very quick 187 BPM -
A great song, pure country with some fabulous artists. A great song to add Alan Jackson’s voice to the song alternating with Zac Brown, then coming together in the final verse.
So, pretty much the whole thing is barre chords, making this a more or less intermediate to advanced player song - but don’t let that deter you! First, you can go to Chordify and using the “capo” function, stay in the same key as the original by capoing on the 3rd fret and play the easier chords. Or, use the capo function in Chordify to change the key by not using a capo and playing the chords shown. Without the capo but using the chords as if a capo was used you can play the song in the Key of CMajor substituting the much easier chords from that key. If you change the key, keep in mind your playing will sound discordant if you try to play along with the YouTube video. The capo is kind of magical in concept, but really all it does is have the effect of “shortening” the strings of the guitar, thus raising the pitch of each string by a half step for each fret the capo is moved toward the soundhole.
A very cool song to fingerpick - play it with the barre chords if you can, or capo on 3 and play it with the chord shapes of the Key of C, or leave the capo off and use the CMajor key’s chords. Take a look at the first chart in the “Some Stuff” section above to see the chords in each. If you leave the capo off and play the original chords, it’s a challenge, but like every song you’re learning, remember: reduce the tempo, take as much time as you need to adjust to the chord shapes, then work on smoothing the transitions between chords, but mostly…
…have fun!!

Genius Lyrics: Link: As She's Walking Away
[Verse 1: Zac Brown]
We never spoke a word, but every thought she had, I heard
From across the room
If we were standin' face to face, I couldn't find the words to say
Give me one more move
[Pre-Chorus 1: Zac Brown]
I don't even know her name
I guess foolish pride's to blame
[Chorus: Zac Brown]
Now I'm fallin' in love as she's walkin' away
And my heart won't tell my mind
To tell my mouth what it should say
We may have lost this battle, live to fight another day
Now I'm fallin' in love as she's walkin' away-ay-ay
[Verse 2: Zac Brown & Alan Jackson]
Wise man next to me did say, 'bout the one that got away
Son, I missed my chance
Don't you let regret take place of the dreams you have to chase
Ask her to dance, go on son
[Pre-Chorus 2: Alan Jackson]
You might fall down on your face
Roll the dice and have some faith
[Chorus: Alan Jackson]
And don't be fallin' in love as she's walkin' away
When your heart won't tell your mind
To tell your mouth what it should say
We may have lost this battle, live to fight another day
Don't be fallin' in love as she's walkin' away-ay-ay
[Solo]
[Pre-Chorus 2: Alan Jackson]
You might fall down on your face
Roll the dice and have some faith
[Chorus: Zac Brown, Alan Jackson, Both]
And don't be fallin' in love as she's walkin' away
When your heart won't tell your mind
To tell your mouth what it should say
We may have lost this battle, live to fight another day
Don't be fallin', fallin' in, fallin' in love
As she’s walkin' away-ay-ay-ay, hey-ey-ey
