Last week’s rando lyrics: The lyric, “What else can we do ” is from the song "Dancin’ Across The USA”. Written and performed by Lindsey Buckingham, it was recorded and released in 1983 on the album National Lampoon’s Vacation (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) (1983). Produced by Lindsey Buckingham & Richard Dashut

Welcome to The Regular Friday post!
Today’s “A Song To Play” is “Dancin’ Across The USA” because I am apparently a slave to my own earworms. A couple of weeks ago I featured “Holiday Road” by Lindsey Buckingham from “National Lampoon’s Vacation” as a Song To Play and mentioned that Mr. Buckingham had also written “Dancin’ Across The USA” for the film. Well, that did it and the two songs have been playing in near constant rotation in my head ever since. I tried to exorcise both by playing “Holiday Road”on guitar, but that just made me want to play “Dancin’…” more. So here we are…

Some Links (Ed. - limited to timely links this week from Music Business Worldwide)
Industry Moves - Apple and other places - Moves at Apple always interest me - they pay more per stream than Spotify, but Spotify has definitely nailed the interface “ease-of-use-and-sharing” model. Hope this takes some of the clunkiness out of Apple Music and gives Spotify a real competitor. We’ll see.

A Song To Play:
“Dancin’ Across The USA” is written in the Key of AMajor, a bit quick at 125 BPM and in 4/4 common time. It seems to play with a bit more of a “swing” feel than the notation would portray, and it took me a few times through to kinda feel that beat. Seems to me to be a groove you kind of feel, a bit loose on the count, but your mileage may vary. If in doubt, look at your drummer if you’re lucky enough to have one handy…
But most of all it’s a fun song, so….
…have fun!! …lol

We went dancin' across the USA
On that crazy king's highway
Too much passion
Too much play
We went dancin'...dancin'...dancin' across the USA
Well the curtain falls too early, so they say
Some will go
Others just stay and stay
So have a round on me my friend
Buttercup days are through
You know I always love 'em
But I think it's time that we flew
We went dancin' across the USA
On that crazy king's highway
Too much passion
Too much play
We went dancin'...dancin'...dancin' across the USA
I wonder if they'll ever understand
The trials of a freedom seeking man
So have a round on me my friend
What else can we do
You know I always love ya
But I think it's time that we flew
We went dancin' across the USA
On that crazy king's highway
Too much passion
Too much play
We went dancin'...dancin'...dancin' across the USA
Dancin'...dancin'...dancin' across the US
We went dancin...
Dancin'...dancin'...dancin' across the US
We went dancin...
Dancin'...dancin'...dancin' across the US
We went dancin...
Dancin'...dancin'...dancin' across the US
We went dancin...
Dancin'...dancin'...dancin' across the US
We went dancin...

This Week’s Conversation With Mika, The Cat:
There was trouble, my voice conveyed unhappiness, and she ran upstairs to glare reproachfully at me. I couldn’t suppress a giggle, which apparently was just more annoying…
Me: “…..”
Mika: “…..!”
Cheers and keep playing!!
