Last week’s rando lyric: The lyric, “ I tried to wear another face” is from the song "I’m Still Here”, written by Matt Scanell and performed by Vertical Horizon. It is Track 2 on the 2003 album “Go”.
Produced by John Shanks.

Welcome to The Regular Friday post!
I feel like I’m getting old (surprise! I am!) when I hear stuff from the early 00s and think, “today’s stuff just isn’t the same…”. Yeah, it’s not and that’s probably a good thing, but still…
Anyway, I don’t remember listening much, if at all, to this band but I came across this song and it kinda took me back to those days of bell bottom jeans and saying “groovy…” a lot…
Ok, that may be too far back even for me, but those “Beatles guys” sure pissed my parents off….

Some Stuff:

A Song To Play:
Originally in the Key of Db (aka C#) - probably to accommodate Matt Scanell’s vocal preference. I transposed it with a capo below to a plain old Key of CMajor, but I’ll leave the capo off and just play it in C or transpose it further to my vocal preference of GMaj, G#/Ab, or AMaj. You can do anything you want to with it for your vocal preferences, though that’s a lot easier in the Chordify app, but there is the subscription issue. Whatever, just…
…have fun!!
From Genius Link: I'm Still Here
I found the pieces in my hand They were always there It just took some time for me to understand You gave me words I just can’t say So if nothing else I’ll just hold on while you drift away Cause everything you wanted me to hide Is everything that makes me feel alive The cities grow The rivers flow Where you are, I’ll never know But I’m still here If you were right and I was wrong Why are you the one who’s gone And I’m still here Still here You’ve seen the ashes in my heart You smile the widest When I cry inside and my insides blow apart I tried to wear another face Just to make you proud Just to make you put me in my place But everything you wanted from me Is everything that I could never be The cities grow The rivers flow Where you are, I’ll never know But I’m still here If you were right and I was wrong Why are you the one who’s gone And I’m still here Maybe tonight It’s gonna be alright I will get better Maybe today It’s gonna be okay I will remember I held the pieces of my soul I was shattered and I wanted you to come and make me whole Then I saw you yesterday But you didn’t notice And you just walked away Cause everything you wanted me to hide Is everything that makes me feel alive The cities grow The rivers flow Where you are, I’ll never know But I’m still here If you were right and I was wrong Why are you the one who’s gone And I’m still here The lights go out, the bridges burn Once you’re gone, you can’t return But I’m still here Remember how you used to say I’d be the one to run away But I’m still here

Norman's Rare Guitars played a big part in this exciting race to be the first to a '23 Martin: Stephen Michael Schwartz (RCA Records debut album, 1974, as you know) was racing with someone thru the Valley in the mid-'70s. I'll let you see for yourself who won!:
