Last week’s rando lyric: The lyric, “And now, I'm glad I didn't know” is from the song "The Dance”, written by Tony Arata and performed by Garth Brooks. It was released on the Capitol Nashville record label in April of 1990 as Track 10 on the self titled album “Garth Brooks”. Produced by Allen Reynolds.

Welcome to The Regular Friday post!
I chose this song because of Mr. Brooks’ withdrawing from and returning to performing several times over the years and his recent contact with several well-known recording artists about assistance with returning to performing.
Ed. In light of terrible events across the nation these past few days, I’m going to leave it at that. The problems and details of famous people’s issues pale in importance.
Our prayers for healing and recovery go out to all the families of those affected.

Some Stuff: Back next week with this section, maybe the world will start making sense again…
“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.”
― Charles M. Schulz
A Song To Play:
4/4 common time, Key of E minor (relative minor of G Major) a pretty slow 67 Beats Per Minute.
From Genius: “This song by country superstar Garth Brooks was written by Tony Arata, and is often considered Garth’s best song, as well as one of the greatest songs in country music history. The song is about a past relationship, but since its release, the song has been used for tragic events and deaths, which was shown by the music video.”
Ed. - Interesting choice of the Key of Eminor, but kind of fits the downbeat lyrics, and makes an interesting song to play.
From Wikipedia: “E minor is a minor scale based on E, consisting of the pitches E, F♯, G, A, B, C, and D. Its key signature has one sharp, on the F. Its relative major is G major and its parallel major is E major.[1]”
The scale degree chords of E minor are:
Tonic – E minor

[Verse 1] Lookin' back on the memory of The dance we shared, beneath the stars above For a moment all the world was right How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye [Chorus] And now, I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end, the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance [Verse 2] Holding you, I held everything For a moment, wasn't I the king But if I'd only known how the king would fall Hey, who's to say, you know I might have changed it all [Chorus] And now, I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end, the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance [Outro] Yes, my life, it's better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance

Has been a horrible week but I have tons of your links to catch up with and posts. Thanks for this 🙏
I think "The Dance" is Garth Brooks' best song. A reflection on the pain one feels in life, or how love can be fleeting, but he wouldn't have missed it for anything. And a beautiful melody, too.
