New Song In Town...
Cover art for my song “Long Road Back” (click on link for streaming options).
Yeah, we’ll probably be seeing that for a few weeks while I push my new song.
Thanks for indulging me - go listen (Ed. …or maybe even buy it….just sayin…).
And please let me know what you think in the comments - over the next few weeks in the Regular Friday Post, I’ll be writing more about the song, it’s inception, writing it, the pretty simple chord progressions, the recording process, and finally mastering and releasing it.

Today’s John Prine quote:
“I just like a good, sad song. The sadder, the better. It moves me.”
Some Links for today:
Ed. Yes, you seriously need to read this next article whether you’re a musician, singer/songwriter, or otherwise creative person of any type or genre:
From Mr. Griff Hamlin of Blues Guitar Unleashed:
Also from Mr. Hamlin, who mostly plays electric guitar, but has a lot of great acoustic guitar instructional videos as well:
So this link is from a website that I know absolutely nothing about. I, like you probably, end up on mailing lists from companies I’ve never heard of because I bought or read something from a different website and that website made a few bucks selling their mailing list. I have no affiliation with this one at all, it just showed up and I pretty much guarantee you will get a bunch of spam junk emails from these guys and whoever they’re selling their email list to. If you are absolutely stuck on a melody or supporting chords, maybe it could help. I dunno. I clicked on the link, but I’m not downloading their “cheat sheets”. Choose wisely.
Some memes and stuff:
You can open each image in the gallery separately in a new window by shift-clicking on it, though it may work differently on different devices - they may appear top to bottom and the upper/lower/top/center/bottom directional notes below will make little, if any, sense at all. The rest of it will though. So.:
Upper left - a 3.5mm (1/8 in) to 1/4 in cable adapter - everyone needs one right now and they “forgot” theirs..
Top center: A screen grab from CD Baby. Click on the box and you’re gonna be waitin’..
Top Right and Bottom Left: Some imagery I’m considering for cover art for the next single
Bottom center and right: Some alternate cover art for “Long Road Back” that didn’t make the cut
It’s Odds And Ends!
(Ed. For awhile back in the day (and sometimes even now!) I was waaay into sort of goth metal bands, though I was pretty much limited to those whose lyrics were at least decipherable over the noise and were in some way kind of interesting. Lot of the opposite kind out there, but a few bands, especially: Headstones, The Sisters Of Mercy, and Bauhaus pretty much fit my listening tastes. Yes, moody and dark; but still… Anyway, when Headstones came out with an acoustic(!) album version of some of their songs, I just couldn’t resist.)
Headstones is a Canadian punk-influenced[1] rock band formed in Kingston, Ontario[2] in 1989, but on hiatus from 2003 to 2011.[3] Consisting of vocalist Hugh Dillon, guitarist Trent Carr, bassist Tim White, keyboardist Steve Carr and Jesse Labovitz on drums, and a reputation for high energy, 'more rock less super shock' stage presence, and interaction with the audience, they frequently draw capacity crowds at mid-sized venues.[4] Their songwriting tackles many serious and controversial topics. Between 1996 and 2016, Headstones were among the top 150-selling Canadian artists in Canada and among the top 35 best-selling Canadian bands in Canada.[5]
