Last week’s rando lyrics: The lyric, “Don't forget that I remember” is from the song "I Remember”, performed by Les Dudek. Written by Les Dudek, it is Track 9 on the album “Say No More”, released in 1977 on The Columbia Records label. Produced by producer/engineer Bruce Botnick.
Welcome to The Regular Friday post!
Les Dudek is not a household name, but nonetheless an extraordinary musician, one of those people who has been there as a studio musician for many stars, while also recording his own music as well. At the Wikipedia article cited just below, take a moment to check the discography he has amassed. Amazing!
Wikipedia: Les Dudek
From Wikipedia: “In addition to his solo material, Dudek has played guitar with Steve Miller Band, The Dudek-Finnigan-Krueger Band, Stevie Nicks, Cher, Boz Scaggs, The Allman Brothers Band, Maria Muldaur, Bobby Whitlock, Mike Finnigan, Jim Krueger and Dave Mason.[2]"“
That’s a career in itself, and he’s still going - current tour dates here: Les Dudek On Tour

Some Stuff:

A Song To Play:
Key of GMajor, 4/4 common time, a just-a-little-quick 103 BPM. Pretty much cowboy chords until you get to the bridge, then the Bm and Bm7 make a quick appearance. Interesting arrangement, no choruses or refrains, just 3 verses with a bridge between the 2nd and final verse. See if you can hear the interesting transition that replaces the chorus. Between verse 1 and 2, he plays a brief riff that ends with a beat or so of silence. No pause between verse 2 and the bridge, but at the end of the bridge, another riff with a beat(ish) of silence, then verse 3 with a instrumental outro to end, no fade. Perfect - I totally detest fade endings, and while I think a chorus can often be important, as a chorus can emphasize the main theme of the song, the absence of a chorus makes a statement itself by ommission. So, a fun song, interesting lyrics, reasonably simple chords, with a bit of a challenge on the bridge, so…
…have fun!!

Lyrics at lesdudek.com Link: I Remember
(1st verse)
Yes I remember you
And all those things you'd do to please me girl
Yes you could
I remember times
When you'd be incline to love me girl
When you would
Those times were so good
(2nd verse)
Yes I remember when
We could just be friends
And watch the moon greet the sun
I remember days we cried
Those moments I didn't realize would be memories
For the rest of our lives
Oh I'll remember girl 'til I die
(bridge)
Don't forget that I remember
Those words of truth
That turned cold
Your promises of love forever
Like a story left untold
You can't hide what evil's done
Now the devil's got your soul
And I remember girl
(3rd verse)
Yes I remember you
But all those days are through
And left behind for never more
I remember you just as a dream
To think about when I'm alone
But now you're on your own

“It’s never really final - you just run out of things you can bear to change…”
I hear you. I am not familiar enough with Dudek so will look into that catalogue....
Passion should really rule over external rewards, as helpful as money can be in this world.
I have to be honest, not a big fan of this particular song but looking forward to listening to the playlist and checking out the other links after I rest this weekend.
